Villa Sandino Community
The Parish of St. Peter the Apostle, under the Archdiocese of Chontales chaired by Bishop Sócrates René Sándigo. The current pastor is Padre Alexis Vargas. The Parish is located in the municipal county seat, which is Villa Sandino, with the following counties under the Parish direction: Riíto, Hamacas, Sierrawas, Santa Clara, Lajeroso, Las Pavitas, Garrobito, El Guabo, Guapinol, El Batazo, La Concepción, Kinama, y El Guarumo.

The primary employer is the government and the local dairy which makes a type of cheese. Many educated people do not have jobs. *Average salary a day for those who work in agriculture is $4 to 5 a day. A teacher may make about $300 to $400 a month. Lots of people have little quick shops in their homes to generate income. A local doctor earns less than $10,000 a year. Teachers and doctors work for the government. A person that speaks good English can earn a good wage in a Managua call center.

The main church in Villa Sandino has about 800 families; the town has about 6000 people. 90% of the population is catholic. The parish has very active youth and adult ministries. Social projects for the parish include a senior lunch program and a low cost pharmacy.
