Riíto
Community:
Riíto is a small community with around 30 families. It is about a 30 minute drive on a rough dirt road south of Villa Sandino. It is a beautiful area with good stands of forest still present. There is a fair amount of wildlife, and we have spotted 2 species of monkeys, sloths, toucans, and many other kinds of birds.

Economic realities:
There are many households with more than 1 generation living in the home. A few families own small parcels of land, but most work for and live in a house that belongs to a large landowner. This results in a difficult economic situation for most families.
Education:
Riíto has a primary school that all of the children attend. Since it is fairly close to Villa Sandino, most children complete secondary school. They attend secondary school only on Saturdays. Very few go on to college.
Church:
Riíto has a small chapel that is well attended. Francisco Javier Gaitan is the church coordinator. The communities are in the process of remodeling the chapel.
