Scholarship Students

Additional education is an opportunity for young people to escape the poverty their families have dealt with for generations. A University degree in Nicaragua is relatively inexpensive by United States standards. When we took this idea to the people of Shelby County, the response was amazing. In the 1st year alone 20 students were sponsored. The St. Michael’s Knights of Columbus sponsored 5 students, and the rest were sponsored by Shelby County families.

Sponsors commit to supporting a student for 5 years at a cost of $300 a year. This covers the cost of tuition and most books. Students still need to pay their own transportation, food, and supply costs. We hope that each year we can sponsor a few more young people.
