Trips to Villa Sandino, Nicaragua
Sharing our faith and creating new friendships are the most important aspect of a sister parish relationship. A large part of what we are trying to do is support peoples efforts to grow in their faith and open their eyes to the realities of other people’s daily life. The best way to do that is by personally spending time with the people of Villa Sandino. Most of the 13 people from Shelby County that traveled to Nicaragua in 2016 would say the experience changed them, or maybe opened their eyes and heart in at least some small way.
While it is difficult for the average person from Villa Sandino to get a visa to travel to Iowa, we are working to allow them to come experience out communities. In September of 2015 Padre Alexis spent a week in Shelby County and it really helped to strengthen our sister parish relationship.
Possibly you will join us for our next trip?
